Absolutely nobody likes spam, but the problem is it can be very hard to prevent. Sometimes, especially on Facebook, spam can be so disguised that you have no idea you just screwed yourself over. The great thing is you can keep a few things in mind, and it should help prevent spam. The following tips will not detect all spam on Facebook, but it will be a good start.
FIRST TIP: BANNERS CLAIMING TO CLEAN YOUR PC
This first spam trick is very ironic, and it is one that you need to be aware of. Sometimes you will find banners on Facebook that claim your PC has been infected by spyware. The banner will say something like, download this program to clean your PC. The problem is, this banner is lying to you and it’s actually the spyware. So, make sure to stay away from all of those banners. If you are worried if your computer has any spyware, then download a secure software.
SECOND TIP: SIGNING BACK INTO FACEBOOK
When you click on a video, survey, or game on Facebook you might be asked to log back in. Well, if you are asked to do this, don’t. Most likely, the website that you’re on is trying to get your password. So, how do you know if a login screen is legitimate? As long as the domain name of the website is Facebook, then you should be fine. If it is anything else besides that, then make sure to leave right away.
THIRD TIP: CHOOSING NOT TO ALLOW ACCESS
If there is always one thing that you can do, you can deny access to certain apps. You will know if you can do this because there will usually be two options shown, “Allow” and “Leave App”. As long as you click on “Leave App”, then you should never have to worry about it.
