For those of you who think that oral sex is all fun and games, think again. Besides having the risk of a sexually transmitted disease, the risk of cancer also increases. At least, it does for men, but women are a little more lucky. There was a study that was taken by the Advancement of Science American Association, and they found that oral sex will increase the risk of head and neck cancer for men. So, the next time you are partaking in sex be aware that you could be jeopardizing yourself. However, let’s dig a little deeper into this.
ORAL SEX INCREASES THE CANCER RISK FOR MEN
A teacher of epidemiology, at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, found out a little more about this situation. Gypsyamber D’Souza, the aforementioned teacher, found out that middle-aged men are at a higher risk for HPV neck and head driven cancers if they have a high number of sexual partners. This is the kicker, if you have multiple sexual partners then you are at a higher risk of cancer. So, men don’t just hit it and quit it because it can really damage you in the long run. D’Souza went on to say that this can be attributed to the HPV 16 strain infection.
WOMEN ARE MORE LUCKY THAN MEN WHEN IT COMES TO SEX
The same study that was taken revealed that if women have multiple sexual partners, their risk of cancer doesn’t increase. The researchers found out that when women are exposed to HPV vaginally, their body actually builds up an immune response. However, they found that men don’t have this same immune response and, therefore, their risk increases. So, to put this in other terms, women don’t get punished for being a whore, but men do. That is just not right, but you can’t argue with the facts at hand.
