If you have read any material about Artificial Intelligence over the last several months then you have ran into the thought that artificial intelligence could signal the end for humans.
If you haven’t seen anything that extreme, then you have most likely, at least, heard that it could threaten job security. However, this artificial intelligence startup company is here to prove that theory is incorrect. This is a New York City-based startup, and they have already created over 60 jobs. They prove that humans are indeed here to stay.
FIRST REASON: THE NEED FOR DATA SCIENTISTS
This startup company is planning on going public later this year, and they already have $11.3 million in venture capital. The company lets their two artificial intelligence assistants, Andrew and Amy, schedule events for them. However, the company has recently hired yet another data scientist. The co-founder of the company mentioned how in New York, they have access to a very large talent pool of data scientists. He also stated how the ability to hire for startups is readily increasing. Let’s face it, artificial intelligence programs are only as good as their creators and that makes their jobs secure.
SECOND REASON: THE STUDENTS IN THE TALENT POOL
Dennis Mortensen, the aforementioned co-founder, believes that the number one reason the city is gaining steam for AI companies is because of the students. He mentions how the talent pool is enormous with excelling students from Columbia University, MIT, New York University, Georgia Tech, and Carnegie Mellon. As time goes on, the talent pool is going to continue to increase. Therefore, jobs will still be given to those in the field of artificial intelligence. This thought that we could be replaced by artificial intelligence is simply a fear. However, there is no indication yet that we will be replaced by robots.
