Top 3 Cool Facts about Alcatraz In Battlefield Hardline Clapway

FIRST COOL FACT: THE HISTORY

Alcatraz Island has a long and illustrious history and most know it was a prison. Although this is indeed a fact, did you know what it was before that? Before it was keeping inmates behind bars, it was actually used as a fort. This was done in the mid-1800’s, but by 1933, it was transformed into what it is known best for.

SECOND COOL FACT: THE DIFFICULT OF BUILDING IT

Michael Roloson, the senior Multiplayer Designer of Battlefield Hardline, spoke about the difficulty his team faced when constructing this map. He mentions how one of the biggest problems of recreating this map in Battlefield Hardline was that they had to break some of the strong fortifications on the island. Roloson then stated how the combat for Alcatraz was really imbalanced. Given the fact that this was originally a fort, the team of designers had to make some minor tweaks to it. Doing this allowed them to make this map more fun in the new expansion for Battlefield Hardline.

THIRD COOL FACT: HOW THEY RESEARCHED

The designers of Battlefield Hardline were all in for this map, and they actually went to Alcatraz themselves. Roloson mentioned how each team would spend around four hours gathering references at Alcatraz. They would take numerous 360 panoramas, thousands of photos, and also several hours of audio recordings to design the most realistic version they could. If this is not dedication, then I don’t know what would be!
