Almost every single man in the world would agree that one of God’s best creations was the bikini. Come on guys, you have to admit that you feel this way! For years, women, and occasionally men, have enjoyed going to the beach and sporting their bikini. As well known as they are, though, I bet you didn’t know these five facts.
FIRST FACT
Many people accept the fact that this piece of clothing was named a bikini. However, are you aware of why it was called this? Well, they got their name after a hydrogen bomb testing at Bikini Atoll in the South Pacific. I bet you didn’t see that one coming, did you?
SECOND FACT
At one point in time, if swimsuits were worn that revealed any part of the torso it was considered indecent. In the current era, this is almost laughable as there are bikinis that probably reveal too much, to be honest. I am not complaining about it, but some bikinis cross the line.
THIRD FACT
The bikini has been popular for longer than you probably think. Ancient people, like the Sicilians and Minoans, often wore bathing suits that were identical to bikinis. As a matter of fact, they were actually very common for those people.
FOURTH FACT
Would it shock you if I said that around three-quarters of the market for bikinis is for women? The other quarter is mostly split down the middle between kids and men. I wonder if this is the public’s way of telling the world that only women should be seen in a bikini?

Speedo is the largest selling swimwear company in the entire world, and they are almost 100 years old! The great thing about this company is they cater to both men and women. So, in all honesty, how many of these facts were you aware of?
