No, you aren’t reading an article from the year 2000. I can safely say that it is 2016 and we are still talking about the perfection that was Diablo 2. It’s highly anticipated successor, Diablo 3, hardly lived up to its older brother, yet that is what gamers have to deal at the moment. That is until Blizzard decided to harken back to days of old by releasing a new patch for the second installment in the Diablo series.
BLIZZARD LAUNCHES NEW PATCH
This is the first patch released for Diablo 2 since Blizzard unveiled the Lord of Destruction update back in 2011. Rumor has it that the latest version v1.14a is available for manual update. Excited gamers won’t be able to find the update on Blizzard’s website just yet, however. Thanks to the new operating systems like Windows 10, certain glitches are infecting the new patch, but those will be ironed out soon enough.
DIABLO 2 NOW FOR MAC OS X
Lovers of Diablo 2 can now revel in all its glory on Apple’s OSX. The new patch has included an installer for the OS as well as other features. The update will have improvements to cheat-detection and the ability to prevent hackers. There are also hints that more could be on the way. By upgrading a classic favorite to work with the latest operating system, they are clearly aiming to inspire a new generation of gamers with one of their most legendary games.
MORE NOSTALGIA TO COME
The rebirth of Diablo 2 for the modern age is a sign of more nostalgia coming our way. In 2015, Blizzard posted a job listing looking for a senior software engineer. Sources indicate this lively individual would help update a wealth of older games to new operating systems. Besides Diablo 2, games can expect to get an original StarCraft and Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos in the near future. Perhaps this is just Blizzard making up for their most recent failures, but who really cares. The fact that aging gamers can relive the great games of old on their new systems, as well as a new generation, discover the classics is hardly anything to complain about.
