For those that are very much into casual mobile games, then Clash Royale should be something that you might want to check out. This is Super Cell’s latest hit game in the mobile gaming industry. It combines Clash of Clans with Hearthstone, creating a unique and fun experience of card battle action.
Basic Gameplay
The rules of the game is pretty simple. You have 3 crown towers(with one being the King’s Castle). Your job is straight forward. Destroy more crown towers than your opponent! If you can destroy the King’s Castle in the middle, you automatically gain 3 crowns and win!
There are also little things you should know while battling other players:
- You have 3 minutes to destroy your opponent’s towers
- If you cannot destroy anything in 3 minutes, you get a 1 minute overtime counter and whoever destroys the first tower wins
- You get double elixir growth during the last 60 seconds of normal game play.
Battles Are Real Time!
This means that you are playing against another player! You really have to out wit your opponent if you want to win enough games to climb the arena. You can opt to use the same strategy to win against your opponent, but it won’t always work because everyone is different. Some players react better to certain cards while some don’t know how to counter specific card combos.
Short And Fun Battles
Unlike Clash of Clans where you have to build up your army and wait(especially for free to play players), Clash Royale eliminates the need for that. Since each battle will last only 4 minutes max, you can literally enjoy this during break times in school or job.
Deck Building
This is where many people will spend a good portion of their time on. They always want to improve and see which deck of cards will give them an edge to winning and climbing the arena. There are various decks you can build and I will give some examples below:
- Spell Deck – Uses spells like fireball, arrows, lightning, freeze or rage and pair it with cards like Hog Rider/Prince to deal some good damage to enemy towers. Most spells are mainly used to destroy specific troop types. For example, arrows are great against small troops.
- Troop Deck – Specializes in using small or medium troops to overwhelm your enemy. This is the best starter deck to assemble since most of the small troops are unlocked at the beginning of the game. Arrows literally counters this deck though. Keep that in mind.
- Building Destroyer Deck – Uses heavy cards like Mini PEKKA, PEKKA, Giant, Prince and Hog Rider with support cards to quickly destroy buildings. This can be countered with using small troops and also tower cards.
Card Counters
Another good thing about this game is that you can counter a specific card with a few others. As you advance to the higher arenas, people get smarter and know how to counter your plays. You will have to be fast and know how to manage your elixir usage carefully.
Here are some basic card counters:
- Giant – Use skeleton army or inferno tower to deal with it
- Minions – Archers works very well as they have range advantage
- Barbarians – A bomb tower will really stop them from getting close to your crown towers
- Small Troops – Things like skeletons, goblins, archers, spear goblins can easily be countered with arrows spell.
- Prince – Same as the giant, you drop the skeleton army on it. Keep a lookout at the potential arrows counter though.

Ability To Use Emotes!
The fact that you can spam emotes and saying things like “Good Game” or “Oops” makes the game a bit more interactive than other mobile games. The human interaction is definitely there and is what separates this game from other PvP oriented mobile games.
Visual and Presentation
The game gives you a very cute and adorable feel to it. This makes sense as the game is pretty much catered towards kids of ages 12 to 20. However, that doesn’t mean adults don’t play it though! Plenty of YouTubers such as Molt are playing it and they are over 20. Don’t think of it as a kid’s game! I am sure there are plenty of 30+ people playing it. While the graphics are childish and cute, this game is played by people of all ages.
It is a very fun game, I highly suggest you go play it. I give it a 9.5/10 rating!
