With the WWE refusing to gain excitement for WrestleMania, mostly due to the pitiful main event of Triple H vs. Roman Reigns, it is time to shift focus back to their most recent video game. WWE 2K16, which was released last year but around a week ago on PC, is a pretty fun video game and here are ten things you need to know about it.
1. THE ROSTER
The best part about this game is the roster, as it is one of the biggest in history. If you want the current generation of wrestlers then you can play as Seth Rollins or Dean Ambrose. However, if you want to relive the good days then play as Stone Cold Steve Austin or The Undertaker.
2. BETTER REVERSALS
When you are watching wrestling, at least for me, the most entertaining aspect is when superstars counter each others moves. This is no different in the video games, and WWE 2K16 has a really good reversal system. Only a certain amount of reversals can happen at one time, and it gives realism to the game.
3. NO FOUR HORSEWOMEN
I will be the first to say that I am not a fan of the WWE divas, but if you are, then know you can’t play as some of them in this game. Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, and Bayley are amongst the women not playable in this game. I only find this a problem for people who actually care about divas, but for me this is a non-issue.
4. STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN IS EVERYWHERE
If you are a fan of Stone Cold, then you will be happy to know that he is everywhere in this game. There are so many versions of him and, of course, you can use the best version of him which is the Attitude Era version!
5. MY CAREER IS IMPROVED
The career mode in WWE 2K15 was an abomination and thank God that they fixed this in WWE 2K16. In this version of career mode, you have much more control over your experience. Not only this but the cutscenes are better and it is actually fun!
6. IT WAS JUST RELEASED ON PC
I know I hinted at this, but I wanted to point it out again. WWE 2K16 was literally released on PC around one week ago, and many people could not be more thrilled that it happened.
7. ACTUAL HEEL/FACE MECHANICS
One of the biggest issues with prior WWE 2K games is they did not implement any interesting features for being a heel versus a face. A heel, who is the bad guy in the world of wrestling, is way different than the face, who is the good guy. Well, in this installment you can actually choose heel responses to interviews and interrupt other superstars.
8. THE RUN-INS
One of, if not the best, features to this installment is the run-ins. When you are a heel, it couldn’t be more entertaining to run in on your opponent and attack them from behind. I mean, if I were a WWE superstar this would be the first thing I would want to do.
9. CREATION SUITE IS BACK
I think it is safe to call 2K15 a failure, and one of the reasons was the lack of creation options. The great thing is WWE 2K16 brings back a majority of them like create an arena, a diva, etc. My favorite part in WWE games is the creation features in it, and 2K16 does it very well.
10. LAST GEN DOES NOT HAVE MY CAREER MODE
This is an important note for anyone who decides to play this game on the older generation of consoles. The developers said screw you to all old gen gamers as there is no My Career mode for them, and it gives more reasons to buy the newer gen consoles.
