Man, I simply can’t wait to play Mortal Kombat X when it finally comes out! Wait a minute, it has already been out since April of last year? OK, now I am upset and I guess I am going to the store now. However, before I go please enjoy these ten secret facts about the game.

1. THE GAME ENGINE

The game engine that was used to create Mortal Kombat X was Unreal Engine 3. However, did you know that this is the same engine that was used in the popular children’s show Lazy Town. This is funny because I can’t think of a worse kids game than Mortal Kombat X!

2. SYSTEM OF A DOWN MEMBER DIRECTED LAUNCH TRAILER

System of a Down is a very popular metal band, and one of their members was responsible for directing the launch trailer for Mortal Kombat X. Shavo Odadjian was the man responsible, and he even used one of the bands best songs, Chop Suey, in the trailer.

3. THE SCORE IT HAS ON STEAM

This is more of a surprising fact than a secret, but I think it is worth your time either way. This game, on Steam, only got a score of 6/10. This is very surprising because of how popular the game. Also, this is the very first Mortal Kombat game to come to Steam.

4. ERIK JONES

Did you know that the official logo for this game was actually featured on Erik Jones’s car? Erik Jones, who is a NASCAR driver, had the logo on his number 20 XFINITY series car. You want to talk about a way to promote your product!

5. IOS VS. ANDROID

Did you know that the iOS version of Mortal Kombat X was released several days before the Android version? The former was released on April 7th, 2015, and the latter was actually released on April 23rd, 2015. You know, I think that NetherRealm Studios is racist towards Android.

6. SIX DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THE GAME

If you are a true Mortal Kombat X nerd, then you know that there are six different versions of this game. Just to name a few of them, you have the default version, Amazon’s exclusive version, and Gamestop’s edition.

7. WHEN THE GAME STARTED

I know all of you are not stupid and know that a video game takes a long time to make. However, you may not have known the exact date that Mortal Kombat X started. Way back in April of 2012, development of this game started.

8. CASSIE CAGE

We all know that Cassie Cage loves to listen to music before she unleashes Hell. However, if you listen closely to what she is listening to when she takes her earbuds off you will notice that it is the soundtrack for the Mortal Kombat trilogy options screen.

9. DC COMICS

Even though Mortal Kombat is a video game, it actually is a comic book series as well. DC Comics are the one’s who published a comic book series based on the game, and they released the first installment last year. This release actually acted as a prequel to this game, and it is a very interesting read.

10. HOW THEY OBTAINED SOUND EFFECTS

There is really only one good way to obtain the sound effect of someone’s neck breaking, and that is by crushing fruits! The game developers for Mortal Kombat X did just that, and they also used nuts and vegetables. What an awesome way to make good use out of food that no one wants to eat anyway! Now, I am finally off to buy this game!
