Thanks to the team of engineering students that make up the group Virtual Nomads, you may soon be able to play Grand Theft Auto 5 while on your bike. With Cycler’s Hub players can use virtual reality to explore the world of GTA 5, all while getting a workout. It’s hard to believe, but your next spin class may take you through the mean streets of Los Santos.
Virtual Reality Tour of Los Santos
With a virtual reality headset, a bicycle, and a copy of GTA 5, players will be able to take a stroll through Los Santos. With the ability to teleport anywhere on the map, players can explore their favorite locations to their heart desire. A mod within the game turns off all violence, so cyclists can explore without the fear of being mowed down by Trevor Phillips.
Dust Off That Old Bike
Cycler’s Hub gives you a reason to pull your old bike out of storage. Virtual Nomads assure players that any bicycle will be compatible with their controller. Once set-up, players will be able to explore the world of GTA 5 from behind their handlebars. Controls on the device allow players to control their speed in-game, much like a spin class. Virtual Nomads hope to implement a rumble feedback feature that reacts to the type of terrain you are on in the game, adding to the virtual reality experience.
GTA 5 Biker Gangs
GTA Online offers hours of fun for players and their friends. Cycler’s Hub looks to expand on that by bringing cyclists together, no matter how far apart they are. Friends that live hundreds of miles apart will now be able to race up Mount Chiliad together, or take a stroll down to the boardwalk anytime they want.
Expanding to other Games
Virtual Nomad’s don’t currently have a contract in place with Rockstar to use GTA 5 as part of their virtual reality device. For that reason the developers of the Cycler’s Hub hope to make the device compatible with multiple games. They also want to release their own game for the device at some point.
Keep the Fun Going
GTA 5 is three years old this year, and it is still making headlines. It’ll be interesting to see if Rockstar and Virtual Nomads can put together a contract. The game has already had a long lifespan, but bringing the GTA 5 to virtual reality with Cycler’s Hub, could really give the game some legs.
