A new global report on American heroin use found it to be at a 20 year high. The UN Office on Drugs and Crime in its 2016 World Drug Report issued the alarming data. The annual report found heroin use at an all time high in two decades. It also stated heroin as the most deadly drug in the world. And its use in the U.S. is of particular concern. Who can save us from the American heroin epidemic? Who will step from the darkness and dispel the dirty needles and burnt spoons? Donald Trump of course, but his throwback tactics may be a bit extreme.
Donald Trump Says Blame the Mexicans
Donald Trump has been an advocate of stopping the flow of illegals from crossing U.S. borders. The wall isn’t long or tall enough for presidential candidate Donald Trump. And if you or someone you know is addicted to heroin, Trump says blame the Mexicans. Oddly, he says he has plenty of “Mexican” friends, just like “Muslims.”
Donald Trump Uses Twitter to Stop Drugs
Trump’s New Hampshire victory was fueled by a lot of wall talk. Like a single wall can save all of America’s problems, but Trump and his supporters sure seem to think so. It was strange that he thinks heroin can be stopped in New Hampshire by building a wall on the Mexican-U.S. border. Geographically sound Mr. Trump. He stated on Twitter that America WILL build a wall for security.
Brand Donald Trump Heroin
If I was a heroin addict, and I saw Trump’s face branded on my fix, I would most certainly not cook and shoot. It would either turn me into a zombie, or I would be on the campaign trail supporting the Trump life. Branding Trump heroin, however, is actually a real thing. Two dealers from Massachusetts were busted with heroin stamped with the Trump brand. Wonder if there will be a copyright lawsuit?
Just Say No Donald Trump
The war on drugs can be traced to the 1980s with Ronald and Nancy telling America to “just say no.” I remember the DARE program, and I remember the DARE program didn’t work that well. And didn’t we kill the sinister Pablo Escobar? So that should have stopped the drug flow into America, right? Nope, because the drugs kept coming because Americans simply love drugs. The 1980s ideology of cutting the head off the snake never worked and never will. Addressing the drug problem within the borders is possibly a more effective plan.
Donald Trump Fights Substance Abuse
One thing Trump may be doing right is addressing the problem at home, and not solely abroad. He did show empathy with those suffering from substance abuse and addiction. But looking at the addicts may reveal other important details. For instance, most people turn to heroin after becoming addicted to prescription pain pills, widely prescribed by American doctors. Street heroin is much cheaper than a bottle of Oxy and easier to get. Maybe instead of Mexicans, we should be looking at the largest drug manufacturers and dealers in the world, pharmaceutical companies, and doctors.
