Battlefield 1 To Destroy Call of Duty Infinite Warfare

Fans hated Call of Duty Infinite Warfare for its change to sci-fi direction. Looking to capitalize on this, its competitor Battlefield 1 is sticking with the moniker “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

BATTLEFIELD ONE GOES BACK IN TIME TO BEAT CALL OF DUTY: INFINITE WARFARE

While Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is taking their game into a more interstellar direction, Battlefield 1 one is choosing to stay a bit more grounded in WWI of all places. There will be no space stations, aliens, planets or asteroids here. Just ground troops, tanks, horses, and old-fashioned biplane fighters. Some question this move, as WWI certainly isn’t as “exciting” as WWII. However, EA promises that it will be much more than just mustard gas and trench foot.

BATTLEFIELD's AUTHENTICITY COMPARED TO CALL OF DUTY: INFINITE WARFAREBATTLEFIELD’s AUTHENTICITY COMPARED TO CALL OF DUTY: INFINITE WARFARE

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare abandoned “authenticity” completely. There’s nothing authentic about the future since it hasn’t really happened yet. That’s not the point here. It is with Battlefield 1 though. They want to create a unique, space that’s personal, authentic and physical. They want to go back to the roots of all-out warfare. It will bring players into the heart of the first world war where deep connections to the characters will be made. Opposed to the detached sci-fi fantasy of COD: IW.

BATTLEFIELD COMBINES PAST AND FUTURE TO BEAT CALL OF DUTY: INFINITE WARFAREBATTLEFIELD COMBINES PAST AND FUTURE TO BEAT CALL OF DUTY: INFINITE WARFARE

The folks at COD think the future is, well, the future. They think gamers want more technology, more ludicrous battles and a greater variety of weapons. That’s not necessarily the case. EA describes “1” as a unique crossover between old school combat and modern technology. Gamers are treated to a new melee system that is designed to evolve hand to hand combat. They can choose between knives, spades, mace and a bayonet. Furthermore, EA describes the game as coming face to face with the new inventions of warfare at the time. They hope to portray how scary it was for soldiers to see all this new technology. It will be in the immersive story unlike any other before.
