Even though Blackberry is a very popular and recognizable product, many do not know the history of it. There are various facts about it that you need to know, and one of them involves the iPhone.
FACT 1: WHO IS DESIGNING IT?
Before I looked this fact up, I had no idea who designed and developed the Blackberry. It is actually developed by a Canada-based company named Research in Motion. They have been partaking in the design of this device since 1996. Come to think of it, this is the first time I have ever heard about Research in Motion!
FACT 2: HOW IT GOT ITS NAME
Most every product has a history behind its name, and the Blackberry is no exception. The name was given to this device when someone noted the keys looked like a group of seeds. This led the company to go through the names of several fruits, and they eventually settled with Blackberry.
FACT 3: THE FIRST DEVICE
Would it shock you if I told you that the first commercially available device, was not even a smartphone? Nope, instead the first device was a two-way pager, which was released in 1999.
FACT 4: THE AMOUNT OF MODELS
From their start until 2010, this device has had ten different models. The total amount of units sold among these ten different models is over 40 million.
FACT 5: INTERNET SERVICE
The Unites States is certainly not the only country that has access to their internet service. As a matter of fact, over 90 countries worldwide have access to it.
FACT 6: IPHONE MARKET SHARE
From 2007 to 2009, Blackberry absolutely destroyed the iPhone when it came to the market share. In 2007, they ended up tripling the market share of the iPhone, in 2008 they doubled it, and in 2009, they had around 10 percent more than the iPhone.
