Another Psychedelic Game is Taking Over PS4 and Playstation Vita Clapway

Neverending Nightmares, an intensely dark and psychedelic game, has just been slotted for release on PS4 and PlayStation Vita according to Creative Director Matt Gilgenbach. The game holds some heavy themes that Gilgenbach takes very personally. For those looking for a happy escape from reality, this isn’t it. For those looking to explore the darker and trippier sides of mental illness, then Neverending Nightmares may be the one for you.

USE YOUR PS4 TO PLAY AROUND WITH DEPRESSION

Mental illness has been garnering an increasing amount of attention these days. Some belief it is actually increasing, but perhaps we as a society are finally learning to talk about it. In the past, the right thing to do was bottle up your emotions and tough it out. Now we talk it out, or in this case, play it out. Neverending Nightmares takes gamers inside a dark, complex and twisted place. It puts you in a position you don’t want to be in. It takes over your PS4 and Playstation Vita, places that usually represent happiness, and fills them with the things nightmares are made of. It’s a disturbingly realistic game and you probably won’t even be glad when you finish it.

“NIGHTMARES” BRINGS UNIQUE PLOT AND GRAPHICS TO PLAYSTATION

As was discussed, this game is hardly Super Mario Sunshine. From the premise of the game to the graphics, everything about Neverending Nightmares is messed up.  There is no clear, overarching story. This only further lends to the psychedelic nature of the game. Various paths with contradictory endings are abounded that will surely disorient you. If that wasn’t enough, the PlayStation enhanced graphics are purely haunting.

Inspired by the dismal drawings of Eduard Gorey, the sketch like visuals create an eerie and intense atmosphere that sucks the hope out of the gamer. On the PS4, the visuals run at 1080p and 60 frames per second. The Playstation Vita also runs at an impressive 60 frames per second. With visuals like that combined with the bone chilling music, one may want a nightlight at their side.

EXPLORING YOUR DARK SIDE WILL HELP YOU

For obvious reasons, it’s frightening to play games that put you head on with  negative emotions. Society is so filled with distractions that we can cram our mind into and ignore the real issues. We occupy ourselves with our PS4 and smartphones to escape the demons within.  One should occasionally take an extended trip into the dank confines of the mind and battle those inner demons. It may not be fun, but it’s a good way to understand the complexities of the mind and ultimately heal the soul. Before you do that, perhaps just play this psychedelic game on your PlayStation Vita or PS4 first.
