Star Wars Battlefront

Oh, Star Wars Battlefront there was so much that you missed. While this game is not necessarily bad, it missed out on a lot of potential features. Let’s just focus on ten specific things, though. Also, please note that some of these issues may end up being, or already have been, addressed by DLC. However, it doesn’t matter because they should have been included with Star Wars Battlefront from the very beginning.

1. GALACTIC CONQUEST

OK, I know this was a game mode in a previous Star Wars game, but it should have made an appearance. You can think of Galactic Conquest as a form of RISK, and it gave Battlefront II greater meaning for individual battles. It would have been nice to see something close to this in the newest installment.

2. MORE MAPS

This is one that has been dealt with by DLC, but it doesn’t change the fact that EA released this game with minimal maps. This game should have been shipped with several more maps and I have no clue why it didn’t. It is so irritating when video game companies purposely leave room for DLC to make more money.

3. SPACE BATTLES

You would think that a Star Wars game would be heavy on space battles. Well, apparently EA decided it wasn’t necessary. I would like to sit them down in an interview and ask them what was going through their minds.

4. GALACTIC CONFLICT

A cool feature, even though the lack of it doesn’t hurt the game too much, would have been a counter that kept track of your Rebel and Imperial victories. Gamers love to have statistics as it allows them to continue playing for a purpose.

5. MORE CANONICAL MISSIONS

It seems like Star Wars Battlefront does too much of the capture the flag idea. It would have been really nice to see missions like destroying the shield generator on Endor.

6. HANGARS

As the game stands right now, unless some sort of DLC has changed it, there are tokens that are randomly placed. These tokens allow you to fly a vehicle, but there should be places where they are kept so you can go and take one.

7. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

Electronic Arts should have done a better job of adding environmental factors. For example, how about giving the Imperials more of a disadvantage by having rocks thrown at them?

8. TROOP VARIATION

Is it just me, or are the warriors of the battlefield too similar to one another. Whether it is Heavy Troopers or Rebel Spies, the troops do not have much variety. Is it really hard to implement classes that have different strengths and weaknesses?

9. MORE CO-OPERATIVE PLAY

You would think that EA would have done better with the co-operative play in Star Wars Battlefront. They did implement it, but overall there is not much that you can do with other people. They could have made Drop Zone PvP, or anything to add co-op gameplay.

10. A CAMPAIGN MODE!

I have never heard of an action shooter video game that didn’t have a campaign mode. As a company, how on Earth can you make a video game without a campaign? This is absolutely inexcusable and I don’t want to hear any excuses for EA. Sure, Star Wars Battlefront is not unbearable without this but it still makes zero sense why there isn’t one. EA can make any excuse they want, and I think they have commented on this, but I am not buying it. They better make DLC for this, but I really doubt that they are going to.
