The NASA Kepler telescope mission aimed at searching new regions of the Milky Way for new planets. NASA knew they would find a few, but they were surprised how many they ended up finding in the end. The Kepler mission was celebrated as a success by NASA yesterday after announcing roughly 1,200 new exoplanets. Normally they announce one, but not this time. Could one of these alien planets hold the secret to aliens? Finding 1,200 new exoplanets is startling. It would be naïve to think that not one of them contained some form of single cell life. What’s next for the Kepler telescope and our new alien planet neighbors?
What Changed for NASA?
The Kepler telescope usually allows NASA to dangle a new planet or two in front of astronomy enthusiast once or twice. Not this time, however. The Kepler mission’s success may not only boost their project budget, but raise more exploratory research to find aliens on the thousand or so new planets that were discovered. The new findings came from NASA’s K2 mission and new software. This allowed researchers to find the noise made by the new exoplanets. Making the process of sorting through planets more efficient and effective. The certainty of these new planets is 99 percent, according to reports.
More Planets Viable for Colonization
The new exoplanets still need to be researched further. Since finding them is simply half the challenge. However, the Kepler mission has identified nine planets that could have a potential for sustaining human life, according to findings published in the Astrophysical Journal. One planet with the highest viability for life is Kepler 1638b. It has a similar year to Venus and Earth. Could this put colonization efforts into motion? Long-period planets like Kepler 1638b may already have life on it, as well, since they are closer to our solar system knowledge. This may lead to NASA finally finding aliens.
Aliens Living on New Exoplanets
Could there be aliens on the new exoplanets found during the Kepler mission? It would be difficult to deny that life on other planets is possible. Space is vast, and the slightest hint of single cell organisms could be closer than we think. Aliens have been a big part of the UFO conspiracy theories on Earth. There are thousands of hours of footage showing UFOs and aliens on the Internet. Maybe those who believe in aliens are not as odd and confused as once believed.
