Adele’s video for her hit song “Send My Love” has reached gargantuan proportions on Youtube. With more than 224 million views (and counting) many are trying to figure out her success secret. Is it her great talent combined with the aesthetically pleasing video or is she using some sort of tech to boost her ratings?

For those that haven’t watched Adele’s music video for “Send My Love”, check it out now. For those that don’t want to watch it, here’s a brief description. The entire three minute and forty five second video feature the singer standing in front of a black backdrop. Her colorful dress is arguably the most interesting thing about the video. While the song is certainly a good one and her voice bleeds talent, the video itself is oversimplistic. In an age where Michael Bay draws millions to the theater with loud noises and explosions, you wouldn’t think a video this simple would become popular. However, more here we are. 224 million views. Yes, million. So what’s her secret?
IS ADELE USING TECHNOLOGY TO CHEAT?
You’ve probably heard of companies that will sell you Facebook likes or YouTube views for money. However, those are usually reserved for the no names of the world. Does Adele really need to cheat? She has the talent to make it on her own, but so do many other celebrities. Celebrities have been caught cheating before so is this any different? Did she team up with Apple to create some super YouTube tech that’s bringing views by the million? With such a cheap video, it’s easy to see why one would think like that. Yet, here’s another theory.
ADELE IS JUST THAT GOOD
Say what you will about today’s current society but the talent is talent. Are there a lot of talentless people at the top? Yes, of course. However, there are also many talented individuals, and this example is one of them. She is not cheating to get 224 million views. Her voice is just that good. She doesn’t need a flashy music video. Just her mesmerizing voice is enough to suck in millions of YouTube viewers. It’s nice to know that we still recognize talent when we see it. It’s just a shame that we can evenly distribute fame to the leagues of other talented people struggling to get 1,000 views on YouTube.
