Etsy is a well-known platform for sellers to sell their handmade goods. However, they do take a commission from sellers. Also, I personally experienced horrible Etsy customer service involving my first wedding ring. Below are the top 3 reasons why Etsy sucks and why you should never use it.
NUMBER 1 REASON WHY ETSY SUCKS AND WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER USE IT
The first reason is poor customer support. If your stuff gets stolen, Etsy does not care. For example, when I was getting married, I decided to use the site to order a custom wedding ring. I was so excited and did not anticipate any trouble.
However, when I received the package, it was empty. Imagine my shock when I saw that a nice box arrived, empty, with no wedding ring. There must have been a mistake; either the seller did not ship the wedding ring or somebody else stole it. But, the box looked pristine, so I believed that the seller forgot to ship the ring. I went back and asked Etsy and the seller. However, the seller refused to admit any wrongdoing. And, the website did not guarantee me a replacement or even a refund.
After this sketchy and dubious experience with my missing wedding ring, I stopped using their website. It left such a bitter taste in my mouth. I gave them my money and my business, and I ended up getting a missing ring. It was also my first time using the platform; I did not know that this could happen.

The prices range all over the place. Rather than being standardized, a lot of these items seem like people are just pricing them that way randomly. I get it, they are handmade and customized goods, but the price ranges for things can vary tremendously.

There are plenty of other options, such as Craigslist and eBay to sell and buy handmade goods! On eBay, you have a huge variety of sellers. On Craigslist, if you want to sell something, you do not need to pay a listing fee.
Personally, I believe that using Amazon is way better than Etsy when it comes to deliveries. When something is lost, Amazon customer service ships you a replacement. At least you know they care about your ongoing business.
