If you’re due for a phone upgrade anytime soon and you’re looking for a hot, new, fairly priced, premium unlocked smart phone, look no further than ZTE’s flagship smartphone, the ZTE Axon.
What is ZTE?
When one thinks of smartphone brands, the names that usually come to mind are Apple, Samsung, HTC, and perhaps a few other companies. No one ever thinks to name the Chinese company ZTE, which has been making other low cost non-smartphone handsets for prepaid companies like Cricket Wireless. With the introduction of its flagship smartphone, the ZTE Axon, however, the Chinese company is hoping to change that and emerge strong in the American smartphone market.
The ZTE Axon, “Designed in the US, for the US”
This flagship smartphone from ZTE is the company’s first phone to be “designed in the US, for the US,” according to ZTE. It runs on Google’s Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system and is home to many features that a dedicated smartphone consumer would expect in a smartphone. The ZTE Axon has a 5.5” Quad HD display, which means that it packs a whopping 2,560 x 1,440 pixels for your eyes to drown in, and that display is shielded by Gorilla Glass 3.
It boasts a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and eight 2.0 GHz cores, along with an Adreno 450 Graphics Processor Unit for some really phenomenal images. It contains 4GB of RAM and 32GB storage space and is powered by Qualcomm’s QuickCharge technology 3,000mAh battery.
The Full Metal Axon Phone
Those components are housed by a full metal body that comes in gold, silver, or blue in a design referred to by ZTE as “urban prestige.” Also featured in the ZTE Axon is a dual lens setup on the back of the smartphone, with the main lens at 13 megapixels of image capturing power and the secondary lens at 2 megapixels, that can shoot 4K video as high as 30 frames per second. On the front, it has an 8 megapixel camera with an 88º wide viewing angle to meet even the most pressing and crowded selfie needs. Because ZTE recognizes that image quality is only half the battle in the smartphone selection arena, and sound is the other, the company has invested its resources into putting two sound processing chips into the ZTE Axon. The chips are accompanied by two microphones, which can eliminate background audio while still capturing perfect stereo sound.
Pricing for the ZTE Axon
Being the flagship smartphone for the company, one would expect an exorbitant price for the ZTE Axon, but the company understands that affordable pricing is everything in the smartphone market. ZTE has announced that its flagship smartphone will retail at a value of $449.98, which is about $100 less than its LG or Samsung counterparts.
