Oracle’s Open World Conference Opens Today

Thousands of people will gather in downtown San Francisco as of today and for the rest of the week for Oracle’s Open World conference. Over 60,000 from all over the world have come for the event, which promises to bring news of what Oracle can offer the world of technology. This week will be filled with new products for managing cloud-based apps and platform services, as well as an opportunity for people in the industry to network with other businesses from all over the world.

Larry Ellison Took the Stage Last Night to Kick Off Open World

Larry Ellison, executive chairman of Oracle, started out the flagship conference last night, and he took quite a defensive stance on what Oracle is prepared to bring the world during this conference. Ellison had many things to say, about Amazon, IBM, SAP, Workday and Salesforth and even of Microsoft, declaring that Oracle would become the fastest growing cloud technology vendor. Though most of Oracle’s cloud earnings come from medium sized businesses, Ellison insists Oracle will have the superior cloud.

Oracle has a great reputation for talking high and mighty but not quite delivering, so if there is any truth to these claims or if it’s just another marketing stunt, it has yet to be revealed.

Oracle CEO Mark Hurd Spoke at 9am At Moscone Center

Mark Hurd expressed during his own Keynote that there is no such thing as ‘time outs’ in business. He highlighted that people who work in companies and IT organizations can’t stop buying or selling, moving, can’t stop closing books or opening new ones.

Ultimately Oracle’s promise to those companies is that they will continue to innovate, that they will continue to drive on the best agreed solutions, and that they will have a complete, integrated suite.

It looks to be a competitive, innovative week, and attendees hope Oracle will deliver this time around.

Highlight of the Open World Conference Will be Wednesday

This Wednesday promises to be the highest point on the conference, where English composer and singer Elton John and American singer-songwriter Beck will take to the stage at Treasure Island for all attendees.
