Six Flags will be taking full advantage of the highly anticipated Samsung Gear VR in the coming years. The theme park announced on Thursday that they will be partnering with Samsung to bring virtual reality headsets to nine different roller coasters across the U.S.
CUSTOMIZE YOUR RIDE WITH SAMSUNG GEAR VR
Attendees of these nine Six Flags to have Samsung Gear VR can expect a completely customizable ride experience. People will be immersed in a universe of their choosing, all while riding a roller coaster. As if riding a roller coaster alone wasn’t scary enough. Now users will fend off alien attacks or fly through mountains in their mind while the physical aspects of the roller coaster take care of the rest. The Samsung Gear VR coasters will launch in March and through the summer. The Six Flags locations to debut this partnership will be Texas, Atlanta, Santa Clarita, Missouri, New York, Montreal, San Antonio, Massachusetts and Maryland.
SIX FLAGS ENABLES JUNKIES TO GET MORE THRILLS
Apparently, just building the world’s largest roller coasters wasn’t enough. Six Flags now feels the need to enable these thrill seekers to the next level. With the help of technology firm Oculus VR, the Samsung Gear VR will help riders feel every twist, drop and turn of the experience. Each virtual reality element will be unique to the ride. For example, the historic Magic Mountain will feature a completely overhauled design and fresh name, New Revolution.
VR TAKING OVER THEME PARKS EVERYWHERE
Six Flags partnership with the Samsung Gear VR is far from an original concept. Theme parks around the world are looking to VR to enhance their thrills. Last year, Europa Park in Germany introduced virtual reality to on of its roller coasters and a theme park in England plans to do the same this coming year. The theme park industry is quite competitive and many owners see VR as a way to bring in repeat customers. Instead of riding Magic Mountain five times and getting the same ride, people can now get five unique experiences. Aside from that, VR can be easily upgraded each year. Millions won’t have to be forked out to build new rides. The future certainly looks exciting for adrenaline junkies.
