Visit Les Deux Alpes, France For Crankworx 2015

Are you fortunate enough to have Europe on your itinerary of places to visit this summer? If so and you love the exciting sport of extreme mountain biking, you must add the destination of the French Alps to your travel plans. Visit the town of Les Deux Alpes, France where the ski resort Les 2 Alpes is hosting the mountain bike bonanza Crankworx 2015 from July 9th to 12th. An hour and a half from Grenoble, near the border of Italy, the landscape has incredible views to offer and plenty of terrain suited to the extreme sport of slopestyle and downhill racing.

The home base for this event is Whistler, British Columbia where all of the excitement started twelve years ago. The Canadian bout between bikes is held in August of every year with 10 days of contests, music, parties and displays of extreme athletic ability. Rotura, New Zealand will now be an annual showcase of talent and athletic prowess, hosting an inaugural event in March of this year.

The venue of Les 2 Alpes is in it’s fourth year and is held on the largest skiable glacier in Europe. With a field of both male and female riders, this competition has something for everyone. Crankworx doesn’t leave anyone out of this festival; there is also a complete schedule for kids, with opportunities for them to ride the same tracks as the pros and maybe even get a few autographs. Bikes are available on site and kids go home with a Kidsworx number plate and bling for their bikes.

Pushing the limit is the name of the game in this biking festival; known as the triple crown of slopestyle, visitors will witness an array of jaw dropping stunts. The way the courses are set up allows spectators to be in the centre of the action at every corner and obstacle.

Athletes attending Crankworx Les 2 Alpes 2015 hail from Canada (lucky them – they get to train at the Whistler venue), the United States, and Sweden to name a few. There is an interesting variation in the ages of the riders, providing a great perspective on the athletic abilities of the participants.

If you have some spare time on your hands and don’t have your European tour booked solid, consider volunteering for the event. There are a great number of interesting volunteer positions available, ranging from race setup and execution to pit crew. If this European destination is on your to do list, check out Crankworx 2015 for a time of extreme sports and extreme fun!
