Samsung and T-Mobile Slash Prices of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

When Samsung announced the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, they were met with incredibly high praise from both critics and users alike. The S6 Edge, in particular, captured a lot of attention due to its curved screen — a “feature” unique to the device. And the devices’ camera is highly praised as one of the best cameras you can get in a phone.

Disappointing Sales for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

One of the biggest drawbacks of purchasing the Galaxy S6 Edge, however, was its enormous price. The 32GB model would run you $699 off contract, the 64GB version, $799, and the 128GB version, a whopping $899 (prices may vary). For some users, the $100 upcharge for the Galaxy S6 Edge was a small chunk of change to pay for such a unique device, but many others simply weren’t willing to pay the price.

Due to disappointing sales, Samsung recently announced that its flagship phones would be seeing a decent discount. On August 4, the company decided to act on its plans. T-Mobile announced that it would be discounting both devices by $100.

Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Take a Price Cut

T-Mobile is currently the first carrier to announce the price-cut, though others are sure to follow suit shortly. If you’re interested in grabbing a new phone, then you can pick up the regular Galaxy S6 at $579 for the 32GB, and $659 for the 64GB and 128 GB models. The Galaxy S6 Edge still has a $100 upcharge, but it is now in a more realistic price range. You can also grab the Galaxy S6 Edge at $679 for the 32GB, and $759 for the 64GB and 128GB versions.

Getting More for Less

If you were paying attention to the pricing, then you probably noticed something a bit odd. The 64GB and 128GB variants of both phones are currently being sold for the exact same price. This essentially makes the 64GB variant of both phones obsolete — at least if/until T-Mobile runs out of 128GB variants. Either way, this is a win for consumers.

There is no information about when the other carriers might see the same price cuts, at least not at the time of this posting. But T-Mobile users sitting on the fence about an upgrade have a much easier decision now that the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are that much more affordable.
