After a troubled first beta test in July, the second Street Fighter V Beta is now live.
It includes cross-platform play between PS4 and PC users, and a new selection of fighters. The most notable addition is that players can finally take on friends on local play, a feature that the first run did not have.
Like the First Beta, The Second Street Fighter V Run Has Trouble
This new beta doesn’t come without troubles, though. Capcom announced on their blog that the online matchmaking rate was working at a much slower rate than they intended it to, and that they are not confident that the speed will change throughout the course of the second beta period though user experiences may vary. The company has not announced a third beta test, and although players would have wanted to take advantage of the new feature without trouble, Capcom stated that players should keep their eyes peeled for new developments and that they will continue to turn on their servers to give them more opportunities to play SFV.
Good news, though, while players wait to be matched, they can play against their buddies by going into training mode and setting the AI to be human-controlled, at least until this beta period ends and Capcom recoups on October 25th.
The Street Fighter V Show Will Go On, Though Not As Intended
The first beta test, only on PS4, was malfunctioning at such a rate that Capcom was forced to pull the plug on it entirely, and only brought it back after some time. Their plan for the second test is to run it through its course, although experiences will be limited and certain aspects may not operate as intended.
Street Fighter V is set to come out sometime during Capcom’s fiscal year, which comes to a close March 31st, 2016, and the game will be offered for PC and PS4 only. It is not yet known if there will be any more follow up beta runs or if things might be mended throughout this second run, but players are encouraged to stick around since these tests are vital to achieve the best possible final product.
