A team out of London, UK, is developing a compass-like device that will take away the danger that cyclists face when having to look to their phone for directions. The product, called Haize, is the combination of a ‘smart compass’ which indicates direction and distance, in combination with an app that traces the route. The cycling navigation software is easy to use and accessible.
Haize has a minimalist navigation design, it’s waterproof and pocket sized for easy transport. It can even be used outside of the bike. It’s made up of a magnetometer, accelerometer, gyroscope, light sensor and a micro USB port, and it connects to the app via a low power Bluetooth 4.0 connection.
The gadget hopes to give urban cyclists a more relaxed workout or adventure and takes away distraction from the road ahead. Users also have the option to get turn by turn navigation, and the compass alerts the user if they’re getting father from their location by flashing red and moving farther from the direction indicator. Haize is sure to change every cyclists’ experience on their bikes.
