T-Mobile CellSpot Mini Tower is going where no router has ever gone before, extending 4G LTE network coverage to every corner of the house; even your basement. The mini tower covers up to 3,000 square feet, giving corners where you had no bars guaranteed full bars. The best part, T-Mobile’s giving them out for free for Simple Choice Customers.
The T-Mobile CellSpot mini tower allows customers to tap in not to your WiFi connection, but directly to T-Mobile’s network. The mini tower, designed by Alcatel-Lucent, hooks up to a home router and uses the internet connection as backhaul to broadcast T-Mobile’s voice networks to a maximum of 16 connected devices. Competitors only offer 3G for up to four devices.
The CellSpot mini tower, being completely free, brings out loyalty in current T-Mobile customers, and may even bring in hauls of new ones. T-Mobile hopes to also inspire customers to consider switching from their current mobile communication companies to their own. These efforts are highlighted by the Un-Carrier benefits the company has been releasing this year, which include free international roaming, music that is unaffected by user’s data plans, free airplane texting and no overage charges.
The Un-Carrier series is expecting to give another announcement November 10 after making the CellStop mini tower announcement just this week, and users and non-users alike are waiting expectantly to see what other enticing features T-Mobile will bring to tempt the public.
