As part of the Un-Carrier X announcements, T-Mobile has unveiled T-Mobile Cellspot, a portable cell tower that transforms a home Wi-Fi network into a literal cell spot tower. The new gadget is set to expand internet reach to up to 3,000 square feet of 4G LTE coverage. It also supports VoLTE, HD voice, video calling, and Advanced Messaging.
The announcement, made through video, is one of many in the Un-Carrier X series, which will make its next big move on November 10. For now it announces the release of this mini-cell tower, which is just 8.5 inches wide, 8.5 inches tall, and 1.3 inches thick, can manage 16 calls at once, and it works with any 3G, 4G, or LTE device that is compatible with T-Mo’s band 2 UMTS or band 4 LTE network.
The new gadget will be available for free for Simple Choice customers with a $25 non-refundable deposit fee.
