Facebook could bring their news app Notify as early as next week, after months of speculation on what their AI would bring next. The app launches in partnership with Billboard, CBS, CNN, Comedy Central, the Washington Post, Mashable and Vogue.
This comes surely as a way to weigh in on some more mobile advertising, where it is only rivaled by Google. After their Instant Articles, whose articles loaded faster on the Facebook app than in other platforms, received a good response, Facebook started to plan to take it to the next level, though they’re not alone.
Apple pushing for Apple News on iOS 9, Google’s pushing for its Accelerated Mobile Pages, Twitter launched Moments, and Facebook is joining the competition. It’s no wonder that media consumption is mainly done through phones, and advertisers are jumping at the very first opportunity to jump in on that bandwagon.
Buzz about Notify began back in August, and according to the latest reports, Notify works by pushing notifications about breaking news through Android and iOS interfaces. Given Facebook’s steady rise in user percentages and investments as well as investors, Notify will give Apple News a good fight. The app is rumored to roll out as early as next week, if not through the next few weeks.
