The U.S. Government has announced that they’ve hired a full-time cyber security expert to fight off security breaches to US cyber security and accessed personnel records. His name is Clifton Triplett, and his mission is to create a new culture of security and to upgrade the outdated technologies the Office of Personnel Management uses. He will also serve as the Office’s Director Beth Cobert’s cyber and IT advisor.

Apparently a wealth of the work is organizational, as well as to spread the important notion that cyber security and home security are almost synonymous. His previous workplaces include Fortune 200 and the US Defense Department. The breaches to US cyber security he’s dealing with, which are rumored to be at the hands of the Chinese government, getting personal information of more than 22 million people including their Social Security numbers. With Triplett, the Office hopes to eliminate the threat and prevent any new ones.

According to Triplett, the main problem to tackle is the dated technologies currently being used and upgrade the general state of US cyber security. He plans to install more advanced firewalls and monitoring systems to prevent cyber attacks. This will all obviously require funding from Congress, and it is likely that the technology implemented onto the Office is spread to all US Government offices.
