The Chevrolet Camaro has earned top honors at the 2016 LA Auto Show,  winning the 2016 Motor Trend Car Award, while the Chevy Colorado took the 2016 Truck of the Year Award. This is the Chevrolet Camaro’s second Motor Trend Car win, and it was recognized for its advancement in design, engineering excellence, safety, efficiency, value and performance or intended function.

Chevrolet Camaro and Colorado Recognized as Cars of the Year in their Class

The contenders for the award were: the Audi TT, the BMW 7 Series, the Chevrolet Camaro, the Honda Civic, the Mazda MX-5 Miata, the Mercedes-Benz GT S and the Toyota Mira.

The Chevrolet Camaro was ultimately chosen as Car of the Year. These cars went through testing, and were run for hundreds of miles of road loops with nine judges present.

This all-new Camaro’s body is shaped after GM’s Alpha platform architecture. It comes with Apple CarPlay, as well as 4G LTE Wi-Fi. It’s hundreds of pounds lighter than its predecessors with the option of a turbocharged 275-horsepower four cylinder engine, a sporty 335 horsepower V-6 engine or a 455-horsepower V-8 engine.

Chevrolet Colorado Wins Truck of the Year

The 2016 Chevrolet Colorado was picked as Truck of the Year for its excellent towing performance. It features a class-exclusive 2.8 liter inline-four Duramax diesel.

Meanwhile, the award for SUV of the year went to the XC90.
