IBM is speeding up its OpenPower initiative to bring a faster Nvidia Tesla K80 GPU and accelerate Watson’s Retrieve and Rank API to 1.7x regular speed. On these advancements, IBM declared that a faster Nvidia speed gives users better cost/performance on Watson’s cloud-based services.

The company added that it has also bringing in a new series of key Internet of Things, Spark, big data and Power architecture and accelerators. On this, IBM declared that this will make Power-based offerings more attractive to clients looking for the best foundation for the Internet of Things.
IBM to Collaborate with Xilinx
In addition to bringing Nvidia some improvements, IBM also announced it was to team up with Xilinx to help develop a data center and network function virtualization solutions for clients. By bringing together both platforms, it hopes to optimize the experience for all clients.
IBM Brings out Products for ‘Waitless Computing’
With a faster Nvidia and more seamless computing, Director and Business Line Executive of IBM Dr. Stefanie Chiras recently spoke of ‘waitless computing’, which IBM hopes to bring in their S812LC cloud.
The S812LC will consist of a single eight-core 3.32GHz processor or 10-core 2.92GHz processor, up to 1TB of memory and space for 14 3.5in drives for internal storage.
