Americans Don’t Think Global Warming is Real

According to the fifth evaluation of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in 2014, climate change is 100% real, and at least for the last half of the 20th century, humans are responsible for it. Americans don’t seem to be convinced, though.

Studies Prove Americans Don’t Care About Global Warming

Based on the March 2015 report from the Yale Project on Climate Change Communication, 63% of Americans assert global warming is happening, but one in five Americans still claim it isn’t real. This is due to misinformation and refusal of acceptance.

Climate change caused by humans wasn’t recognized as an issue until 1992, and this was caused by various things that included mostly politics. There have been numerous scandals where companies have been proven to have hidden the damage of fossil fuel and greenhouse gas emissions on the environment. This is mostly due to the greed of the business world, where the currency is more important than safety.

Over the past ten years, the studies’ figures prove that people in the United States simply don’t talk about global warming. According to their statistics, only 40% of American people actively discuss global warming news every month, with a low 19% talking about it weekly.

This specific group can be assumed to be millennial, who are fed the wide amounts of information the internet has to offer. It’s no secret that global warming is real, and man-made, but if wider outlets do not begin that conversation, we may reach the point where it’s just too late to turn back and cut the damage.
