The Apple Watch will be facing some more competition as HTC is rumored to be releasing their smartwatch by February of 2016. Rumors about an HTC smartwatch have been circulating since 2013, but it looks like it’s finally time to its actual release.
Evan Blass Leaks HTC News
Noted leakster Evan Blass shared the news via Twitter, saying that HTC fans will finally have their own smartwatch. There’s been no further news on the subject, but it’s sure to compete against the Apple Watch, which has been noted as the trendiest gadget of 2015. According to Blass, the HTC smartwatch will be named One, though earlier rumors say the watch has also been codenamed Halfbeak.
Rumors say the watch will have a 360×360 display. Until further confirmation is given by HTC, this is pretty much all that we know.
Apple Watch Still Leading the Ranks in Wearables
The new Apple Watch is at the top of the gadget charts, taking over every other device for the holiday season. With Christmas right around the corner, it’s possible that Apple sees a significant increase in sales. The same can’t be said for profit, but it will be a good year close for Apple.
Analysts are expecting the Apple Watch to top six million units sold for the holiday season, though the iPhone is still expected to be the company’s best selling product. The smart watch has still be named the best in its category and better than any other wearable before it.
All in all, this holiday season is sure to do well for electronics in general. Tech gadgets like the Apple Watch, hoverboards and drones will be at the top of many lists this year. As 2016 sets in, Apple is sure to face a lot of competition in the wearables market, as more and more companies join the industry and cater to different audiences.
