It’s becoming more and more common to complete purchases through an iPhone or iPad. We’ve seen it in the Apple Store, in some kiosks at malls and even at coffee shops. United Airlines have joined this trend and they have equipped over 6,000 employee’s with Apple’s playbook. This means that UA staff will be able to help any customers from anywhere in the airport.
Playbook Makes it Easier to Buy Boarding Passes and Get Baggage Tags
Most airliners don’t accept cash in the air, so playbook will also make it easier and more accessible for people to buy things in flight. This tool can even help customers find other flights and help customers who need more specific assistance. United Airlines representatives have expressed that this will be particularly helpful under bad flying conditions and high traffic times.
The Project Has No Launch Date Yet
There’s no telling when exactly the iPhone and iPad devices will be distributed to the staff, but it’s expected to roll out sometime next year. This will give a cleaner, more efficient tool for the airline to use to complete all manner of tasks, and not only those geared to help customers. It’s possible that other airlines also join in this trend, optimizing traveling and making it easier for everyone involved.
