There has been a man to land on the moon, now it is time for a robot to land on the moon. Not only that, but a huge prize is on the line for any company that can do this. The Google Lunar X Prize will be awarded to whatever company lands a robot on the moon first.
WHAT THE GOOGLE LUNAR X PRIZE IS
It has been around eight years since Google announced this Google Lunar X prize. Back when they announced it they said that they would give a $20 million prize for the first team to successfully land a commercially made spacecraft on the moon. A $5 million prize was also promised to the second team to do so. However, they need to do more than just land the spacecraft. It is also required for the robot to travel at least 500 yards, and also for it to bring back a high-definition video of the moon.
TEAMS THAT ARE ANNOUNCED FOR GOOGLE LUNAR PRIZE X
The team that is orchestrating this event at Google has given teams a deadline of the end of 2016 to come to an agreement to launch. Just recently a company announced their agreement to participate in the launch. Moon Express is the company that announced they came to an agreement with the X Prize Foundation. The chairman of the X Prize Foundation expressed his joy for the contract signing. The other confirmed company is SpaceIL. They announced a few months ago that they came to a certification for the X Prize.
GOOGLE LUNAR PRIZE X IS GREAT FOR ALL
Not only do the companies that participate in this event have a chance to win a lot of money, but the world will finally see a robot land on the moon. This is a tremendous ordeal that is happening. Pay attention at the end of 2016 as that is the deadline for this competition.
