Open Internet May not Be so Open Soon Because Of FCC

6. Open Internet Neutrality

The issue of the FCC and the lawsuit against them is officially in the courts hands. Way back in March, the US Telecom Association filed a lawsuit against them because they thought the net neutrality rules were not rightly adopted. Both sides have spoken and here is what they had to say.

THE FCC LAWSUIT: BOTH SIDES OF THE STORY

Net Neutrality basically gives people the right to be on an open internet. Earlier this year, the FCC adopted net neutrality rules. However, the lawsuit was due to the fact that the US Telecom Association thought they did it by violating an administrative law. During the court session, it was debated that the FCC violated the providers first amendment rights about deciding what content to distribute. The FCC attorneys did not see it that way as they stated that the telephone companies did not have the right to do so. As of right now, the decision has not been final and is still continuing.

THE FATE OF AN OPEN INTERNET IS ON THE LINE

An open internet is a good internet. Users deserve to access and surf the web with an open world state of mind. Meaning that they do not have to worry about being blocked, throttled, or anything like that. Broadband companies are not allowed to block content for people, as well as paid prioritization. Basically, when an open internet is present the worry about having content blocked or being disrupted is gone.

IMPORTANT TO PAY ATTENTION TO THIS CASE WITH THE FCC

This is definitely a case that many people should pay attention to. This court ruling is still going on and both sides have already expressed their sides. The judges are going to have to think long and hard about this because this is a very important case.
