China Electronics has now got a good foothold on the new Windows 10 operating system from Microsoft. They unveiled plans yesterday to give Chinese government agencies access to their operating system. Microsoft will be working with the China Electronics Technology Group with this venture.
THE NEW WINDOWS 10 FROM MICROSOFT
This new operating system by Microsoft was released earlier this summer. Windows 10 followed the tablet-based operating system Windows 8. Windows 10 is more of the true sequel that many users wanted. It is a little more familiar with older operating systems. However, it still adds features that make it feel like new technology. One feature, in particular, is Cortana, the on voice detection program by Microsoft. Overall, this operating system takes the company back to its old, and good, roots.
MICROSOFT INCREASING ITS FOOTHOLD IN CHINA
Prior to this new deal with China Electronics, Microsoft had already gotten their feet wet in China. Previously, they had made deals with companies such as Lenovo, Xiaomi, and Tencent. Also, in the past, they signed an agreement with Baidu to push their Windows 10 operating system on the market. You can think of Baidu as China’s counterpart to Google. Now with this new deal, they are becoming more well known in China.
CHINA ELECTRONICS PROVIDING SUPPORT FOR WINDOWS 10
Microsoft has decided to let China Electronics provide product and technical support for their operating system. This will include licensing the operating system to specifications of national agencies. Also, the Corporate VP of Windows, Yusuf Mehdi, commented in a blog post about what else China Electronics will do. Mehdi stated that they would serve state-owned enterprises in key framework fields. He noted that energy, transportation, and telecommunication would be some of the fields involved.
CHINA ELECTRONICS WITH THREE IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS
Mehdi also pointed out that China Electronics will have three important functions to carry out for the Asian government. The first function they will provide exclusively licenses the Windows 10 operating system with the anti-virus protection software installed. The second function is they will provide customers with product support. This will include patch activation, product activation, and deployment services. The last function Mehdi says China will provide is collecting feedback from customers in order to develop updates for the operating system.
MICROSOFT STILL HAS OWNERSHIP
Microsoft has struck a deal with China Electronics to provide them Windows 10. However, they will still hold full ownership of the software. However, they will need to receive regulatory approval from the Chinese government. The overall security will not be decreased, but customers will be allowed to create custom applications for the software. This is more of a move to expand their operating system, not relinquish it.
THIS IS GREAT FOR CHINA ELECTRONICS
This is a tremendous event for China Electronics. However, it is also a great event for Microsoft. Both of these companies should see this deal as a win-win situation. For China Electronics, to gain support for the Windows 10 operating system is a huge boost. Although, some will question Microsoft for doing this considering the operating system was already available to the public over there. Some might suggest that they do not need to do this with such a high regulation country. However, both companies seem to be happy with their new deal.
