The Debate Between Google Chromecast vs Apple TV is Over Clapway

We’re bringing an end to the choice between the Google Chromecast and the new Apple TV. The truth is, Google has always been good at giving Apple a run for its money, and this is no different.

Unless You’re Looking to Make Home Theatre Out of Your Device, the Google Chromecast is a Great Buy

Right now, users can buy two Google Chromecasts for $55, and that’s still less than what a single new Apple TV costs. There are a lot of faults in the new Apple TV, and while easily fixable, they’re not worth it if all people are looking for is a platform from which to stream content from their phones/tablets to their TVs.

Apple TV vs Google Chromecast: Functionality

Although technically both devices have the same purpose, they work very differently. Google Chromecast probably wasn’t designed to be the go-to home streaming device, but it has quickly become a household name. This device is probably the best for college students living in an apartment. Cable is expensive, unnecessarily so, and Chromecast is bringing the kind of service that is saving people a few hundred dollars every year.

The Apple TV is better geared toward people who are going hardcore with their streaming services. Again, it is best with people setting up a home theatre of sorts, one that requires a $75 controller that’s still no fully functional or efficient.

Speaking of Practicality, Nothing Beats the Google Chromecast

Google Chromecast is cheap and practical. This doesn’t mean it is an in-between solution before buying the Roku 2 or the new Apple TV. Though it can be a transitional device, it’s a great buy, and a great tool for parties and to keep hooked to the TV in the living room.

Apple can hook to computers, tablets and phones, but only if they are also Apple devices. An expected move, and an unfortunate one, too. Google Chromecast can pair to any device that can connect to Wi-Fi, and it can join in on adding or queuing content at any time. It won’t use power from the device itself, so it won’t drain the battery of your devices.

In the end, Which is a Better Buy?

It depends on who you’re asking. It’s going to be a while until the new Apple TV is accessible to everyone since right now it’s a little more expensive than most can afford. Secondly, the Siri remote needs some serious upgrades. These will come in time.

While the design of the Google Chromecast is a bit more rugged, it’s functional. It works, and it does its job for a quarter of the price that Apple is looking for. Google will be bringing in affordable technology for eons to come, and Apple is just starting to catch up.

Apple TV Still Holds its Merit

The Apple TV has a classy finish and a classy interface. Though there are doubts about the usefulness of the Siri remote and voice control, it brings together all Apple devices in your TV. It provides loyal Apple fans with a common campsite and gives them something familiar to work with. The higher price comes with added perks, like the support of thousands of movies and other pieces of media.

We’re just saying, there’s a lot of stuff that can be seen/found/heard from a tab on Google Chrome. And anything that can play on there can get cast to your Google Chromecast.

The Rising Trend in TVs: Motorized TV Lifts

There’s a new trend bubbling around – Electric Actuator. People are now buying motorized TV lifts so they can conveniently bring out or store their TVs whenever they want. The devices look pretty cool, too. These little guys pack quite a bit of power and can turn any room into something a little classier and makes spaces seem bigger. Let’s face it, a TV can take up a lot of unnecessary space that can be repurposed.
