Standard issue keyboards on smartphones are not for everyone. Microsoft is bringing in an option for Apple and Android devices with the new Word Flow Keyboard.
Google Play Store and Apple App Store Now Feature Microsoft Keyboard
Microsoft has released a default virtual keyboard, on par with ‘Swype’ and ‘Fleksy’. The keypad software, which will be available for Android and iOS. The Word Flow keyboard is currently in beta after certain users were invited to join via email.
Word Flow Keyboard Has a Guinness World Record
Actually, the Word Flow keyboard has been praised in the Windows Phone. It even has the Guinness World Record for ‘fastest texting’. Microsoft is planning to roll out the keyboard to iOS first. The keyboard features shape writing, which enables users to write text quickly and without having to lift their fingers from the screen. This gave the Word Flow keyboard much of its acclaim. The default iOS keyboard doesn’t feature Swype-style typing.
This is a clear sign that Microsoft wants to expand as a software services company. The tech giant started out by launching Cortana, the Windows virtual assistant, on iOS and Android in 2015. Outlook is also available on both mobile platforms. The most popular of Microsoft’s software babies is probably Skype, which has been available for Android and iOS for a long time.
Will the Keyboard App Trend Stick with Apple?
It’s yet to be seen if there’s any space for Microsoft in the world of software services. There could be some people that are dissatisfied with the iOS or Android keyboards, but it’s not a popular belief. Bringing in Windows 10 apps to Android and iOS can only be beneficial, especially for businesses who use Windows platforms.
Apple is a more far-fetched target. It looks like Microsoft has the Apple default keyboard as their main contender, but it’s not likely that it’ll stick. Keyboard apps are more popular with Android, so the new keyboard might become popular there. There haven’t been details shared on when the keyboard will launch. According to analysts, it’s likely that the app will come out within the next few months.
