When I heard that Volvo was going to be making a feature that would allow a smartphone to start cars, I had to pinch myself. It seems completely surreal that a company would think about doing this, but when you think about it, it starts to make sense. Not only that but the new features that continue to roll out for cars, make anything possible. Take for example Google’s self-driving cars, the cars that parallel park themselves, and the cars that detect when another vehicle is in the blind spot. The technology in vehicles continues to amaze the world, and Volvo wants to be on that impressive list. Here are the two top reasons why you will eventually be able to start your Volvo car with your Apple iPhone, and not by turning your key in the ignition.
THE FIRST REASON VOLVO WILL REPLACE ITS KEY FOB WITH AN APPLE IPHONE
If nothing else, this was done by Volvo to add competition to the market of vehicles. If they can mass produce this by 2017, they would be the first car manufacturer to offer keyless cars. This automatically gives them one of the most intriguing features of any vehicle. So, even if it becomes a massive failure, at least, we can say they tried to start a trend!
THE SECOND REASON VOLVO WILL REPLACE ITS KEY FOB WITH AN APPLE IPHONE
The one great thing about using your Apple iPhone to start your car, instead of using a regulation key in the ignition switch, is the added features of it. For instance, with this new feature users will be able to send their family members a digital key to start their car. The On Call app, that the company already has released, that can be used with it allows users to check their trip meters and fuel, as well.
