Silicon Valley is Against Smoking; Here is Why  Clapway

Silicon Valley, the United State’s region of innovation, is against smoking. On Tuesday, San Franciso supervisors voted to raise the legal age to purchase tobacco from 18 to 21. This, of course, raised all kinds of protests from smokers.

SILICON VALLEY SECOND TO NEW YORK IN TOBACCO FIGHT

Silicon Valley has become the second-largest city after the New York to raise the minimum age. This is not just limited to cigarettes either. All other tobacco products and e-cigarettes will require buyers to be 21. Among other locations to join the movement are Silicon Valley’s east coast brother Boston and Hawaii. Yes, Hawaii.

RAISING THE AGE OF PURCHASE WILL SAVE THE FUTURE

Scott Wiener, the man behind the law said this is for the good of the youth. Raising the age will hopefully discourage young people from turning into lifelong smokers. Right, because doing that for alcohol worked wonders didn’t it? I’m not saying that my European friends who’ve been drinking since 16 are more responsible with alcohol than binge drinking Americans… actually yes, that is exactly what I’m saying. Despite this, it actually seems that there is hope for this issue. The latest report by the Institue of Medicine found that 90 percent of smokers first tried a cigarette before 19. This number will surely go down if the age of purchase goes up.

NEW CIGARETTE LAW MAY BE ILLEGAL

The popularity of the new law in Silicon Valley and is widespread. Still, opponents say that California law has the age at 18. Apparently, this prohibits cities from changing their ways. Once again, we see the wonders of the American government. A few will suffer due to the stupidity of many. In a real shocker, the director of the National Association of Tobacco Outlets opposed the new law. Sounding like an old man, he said something along the lines of if kids can got to war at 18 they should smoke. Greedy tobacco companies are nothing new. They always want more money. Silicon Valley doesn’t need that dirty tobacco money, however. They are rolling in wealth. Rich in creative intellect, and immersed in infinite smug.
