While some of the biggest names in tech are fiercely battling the government, Amazon and CEO Jeff Bezos continue their quest for world domination. Bezos is ambitiously pushing officials to get his own army of commercial drones in an effort to remain a delivery powerhouse. Apple, on the other hand, is just fighting to stay alive as the FBI relentlessly tries to restrict their freedom.
GOVERNMENT STANDING IN TEH WAY OF AMAZON’S PROFIT
It seems that Amazon and Jeff Bezos could really care less about the war being waged on privacy. Profit is the main target to Bezos, and the government is the only thing preventing him from mastering it. Amazon has been pushing hard in Washington for a while now in order to get permission for commercial drones, extend the length of trucks and improve the roads and bridges of the nation. Basically, anything that is preventing them from earning more profit is an issue of concern. In 2015 alone they spent $9.4 million on lobbying and that number is only expected to rise. In addition to their persuasive ways, it seems that Bezos almost wants in on the government itself. They already have a $600 million cloud partnership with the C.I.A and Bezos even suggested they become a federal transportation service provider, citing the failure of the U.S government to keep up.
SKY’S THE LIMIT FOR JEFF BEZOS
Most companies collapse under so much pressure, but Jeff Bezos will not rest until the U.S airspace is filled with thousands of his drones. The sky is literally the limit here, and who knows, maybe we’ll see an Amazon Mars soon after that. As one can expect, airlines and pilot groups have strongly resisted Bezos and his claim for airspace, but that resistance will only be met with a stronger fight by the e-commerce giant. The government is just a mere speed bump for Bezos, yet for Apple, it seems more like an iron curtain.
FBI’S FIGHT TO ENSLAVE APPLE CONTINUES
In the fight against privacy, both Apple and FBI have stated their claims to the public. Neither one seems to be budging. The FBI started this whole mess by screwing up their investigation on the San Bernardino. In a childish effort to save face, they want to run Apple into the ground. Tim Cook is holding his own against the feds, but it hasn’t been an easy fight. Fortunately,y this debacle has been horrible publicity for the FBI and works in favor of Apple. Mass surveillance programs have long been a topic of controversy since Edward Snowden first blew the whistle. This battle with Tim Cook just shows how little the FBI and NSA have changed. The outcome will probably shock anyone but one thing for certain, Amazon delivery drones are on the way.
