Russia To Bring Pancakes to Mars

Russia To Bring Pancakes to Mars Clapway

America is known as a melting pot due to the wide array of cultures coming together to share their history and tradition. While a vital part of the American personality, sharing cultures isn’t strictly related to the U.S. It’s only logical that when one country goes to another, they bring elements of themselves with them. In terms of space travel, this brings up some interesting points. Since it seems that Russians could very well be the first to visit Mars, what will they bring to bestow upon the planet? Seeing as Russia and pancakes have such a long and healthy relationship with each other, bringing them to the red planet would only benefit all parties involved.

PANCAKES ARE AS AMERICAN AS COMMUNISM

For reasons unknown, images of a cartoonishly high stack of pancakes, dripping with thick maple syrup as it mixes with a sea of butter, has become a staple of America. Sorry to ruin that beautiful picture for you, but pancakes as Americans know it, are just a lesser version of their Russian counterpart. Russia and pancakes have a longstanding history with great significance. This tradition, like many great Russian ones, involves a huge party.

RUSSIA THROWS PANCAKE PARTY FOR THE AGES

At the end of every seemingly eternal winter, those that survived get together and throw a festival to remember. Lots of fire is burned, copious amounts of vodka is drunk and heaps of Blini, or pancakes, are eaten. These small buckwheat pancakes have been commonplace at the festival for many years going. In typical Russia fashion, they are served with caviar. The massive gouging of Blini and burning of wheat is supposed to represent a bear coming out of hibernation. It’s an important tradition for Russia and one that is looked forward to nationwide. Then again, if you survived a Russian winter, you’d look forward to just about anything.

MARS MEANS NEW BEGINNINGS AND PANCAKES

If Russia succeeds in their nuclear attempt to fly to Mars, a new beginning of space exploration will be represented. After the supposed 90 days the Russians say it will take to get to Mars, astronauts will come out of a hibernation of their own. For this reason, the addition of pancakes would only be welcome to the weary travellers. Not only to provide nourishment but to represent a cultural practice of their homeland. What better way to land on Mars then do it in the ways of their culture. Just as NASA put a flag on the moon, Russians will put pancakes on Mars. As an added bonus, any Martians found will be in for a special  treat.
