The race for space domination is on and it looks like China has got a head start. After successfully launching a top secret and highly powerful rocket, NASA, SpaceX and Russia are wondering if they have any chance to compete.
CHINA SCARES THE WORLD WITH NEW ROCKET
The test launch of China’s powerful new rocket has been a success. This is far from the average rocket launch, however. The technology is specifically designed to perform secret tests on the outer edges of space. While this is a monumental achievement for the Chinese, the test has NASA and others a bit worried. The U.S military is under the assumption that the Chinese space program is really just a front for weapon development and top secret military research.
SHOULD NASA AND SPACEX BE WORRIED?
The Chinese have ensured everyone that their space program was just a way for some healthy competition between them, NASA and private space companies like SpaceX. However, The U.S Defense Department isn’t taking any risks. Earlier this year they asked for $108 million in funding for space warfare research. Perhaps that’s where NASA’s budget is going. With companies like SpaceX gearing up trips to Mars and beyond, having a battle hungry China in space with advanced rockets could make for some real life star wars. The military has a right to worry, though. Back in 2007, China demonstrated that it can destroy orbiting satellites and spaceships. Perhaps this new rocket is the rumored superweapon they’ve been talking about. While NASA and SpaceX continue to keep a close eye on the Chinese, Russia is just trying to keep up.
PUTIN SHAKES UP RUSSIA’S SPACE PROGRAM
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has had enough of his countries inadequate space program. On Wednesday, Putin told his space officials to step up their game after the launch of the Soyuz rocket was called off. This has just been one of many problems Russia’s space program has been running into. Thus, Putin has taken it upon himself to restore the glory after years of neglect due to the Soviet collapse. Seeing as China is just about ready to dominate the galaxy, it might be too little too late for Putin and Russia. Since SpaceX seems to be the only one in America making positive strides, perhaps they should get into the weapons industry.
