Throwback Smartphones Launch in Europe This Week

Android knows that, and is banking on the idea that 70s and 80s computer aficionados will spend that money. A new smartphone is coming soon from Android that contains emulators of classic Commodore devices! The upcoming Commodore Android phone was made possible because of two Italian businessmen who got the rights to the name Commodore; the original company hasn’t existed for over two decades.
Commodore Smartphone Has Old Looks, New Technology
Those who missed the classic logo on the Commodore PET will be thrilled to find it on the back of their Commodore Android smartphone. Even better, it isn’t sacrificing the great current phone technology. The Commodore Android will have a 5.5-inch display in 1080p, a 14-megapixel camera, a 1.7GHz eight-core processor, and support for 4G data and dual SIM cards. Your Commodore is getting a major update!
As for storage, the Commodore Android will be coming out in two separate versions – one that contains 32 gigabytes of storage with 3 gigabytes of RAM, and a lighter version that has 16 gigabytes of storage and 2 gigabytes of RAM. At the moment, it seems the color options will remain black, white, and beige.
Game Emulators Also Coming to the Commodore Android
Commodore 64 fans can also rejoice, as the Commodore Android phone will contain an emulator for it, as well as the Amiga. The Commodore 64 was most known for the games it allowed you to play, and the company intends to make the old games available soon, lest you start looking for the games on particularly seedy sites. Those looking for a Commodore Android phone in Europe and want to play classic games can look for this to be available relatively soon. Americans who want it will have to wait a bit longer, as there is no official release date for the U.S. yet.
