Cinema is fascinated by robots, as is science (of course). The movies make it seem so easy for a robot to have a heart and be self aware, and they always show them as good or evil, saviors or sinners. Here are 5 iconic robots that stole our hearts:

– We all felt the same heartache when we thought Number 5 in Short Circuit was gone forever. His recognizable phrase, “Number 5 Alive!” will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
2. R2D2 – This is an iconic robot that needs no introduction. Even those who are not fanatics about Star Wars know this classic character, and his best friend.

R2D2 can not be mentioned here without the recognition of his best friend, C-3P0. Together, these two provided the comedic relief through out many Star Wars movies.

This cute little iconic robot created by Disney stole our hearts with his mechanical love story and sad eyes.
5. Baymax
This new, friendly robot has taken the children’s movie world by storm, painting himself as a true hero and friend.
