The revised Privacy Policy of popular app Snapchat confused many users, especially in regards to the new clause that gave Snapchat ownership of all content sent through the application. Many current Snapchat users felt this was a blatant breach of privacy, and the company took to their official blog to clarify the situation.
The statement says that Snapchat included that clause only to ensure that they would have permission to recast or replay snapchats that would go to features such as Discover or Live Stories, and clarified that privacy settings can be adjusted to limit this by individual users.
Otherwise, the company continues to follow the policy that states that all content is deleted from their servers once it expires or is viewed by the appropriate recipients and it is not at all sold to business partners or advertisers.
Snapchat users can rest assured that Snapchat is not violating users’ private information, and that their access can be limited by the users themselves.
