The latest footage from the new Need for Speed game makes it look more like an art-house film than a video game. The game, named just Need for Speed, which will be out this week on PS4 and Xbox One, and it apparently actually looks filmic. There’s not much that can be said from the videos on Youtube, but beta players are calling it a cinematic masterpiece of a video game.
Need for Speed doesn’t run on 60fps or detailed cockpits, but does have an arcade-like handling and a clear aesthetic that set it apart from the rest. It has detailed lighting design and cinematography. According to beta players Developer Ghost Games keeps visuals refreshing, and the game is sensitive to color, making no two places feel the same.
The Need for Speed series, which has been running since 1994, has finally made an upgrade from its stocky yet helplessly fun graphics to something that makes it look more like a video game version of Fast and Furious. The footage released so far really does show an astounding difference and a careful attention to detail. It doesn’t look at all like any of its predecessors, and it’s surely a step up for Developer Ghost Games.
