Facebook has just introduced the ‘music stories’ feature, which allows users to sample 30 second clips of songs that their friends post. These songs can come from platforms such as Apple Music, iTunes and even Spotify. They can stream the songs from music stories and follow links to purchase them or add them directly to their Spotify or Apple Music accounts.
This comes as a refreshing collaboration between the three companies, but it could be a tool to compete with either one. The next step for Facebook would be to form a partnership with a music streaming service through music stories, or even make their own. Facebook is looking to become a one-stop place for all needs, music being its next target.
But Facebook has other things to deal with in the meantime, especially the battery drain issue that its iOS app has been reporting as of late. They’re under reparations for the problem, and its leading users to believe that Facebook has less respect for iOS users that it would allow something like this to happen. Facebook has many big plans that are faced with smaller issues, but seeing the company’s rap sheet, it’s obvious they will do anything to face up to competition, and this is no different.
