Audi is set to release the E-Tron Quattro Concept SUV, an all-electric car to compete with the Tesla Model S series. The car is set to be a cross-over of an SUV and an electric vehicle. The E-Tron Quattro Concept will be unveiled next month at the Frankfurt Auto Show.
The E-Tron Quattro Concept SUV is set to be able to drive 500km before needing a recharge. The announcement, made by Audi, confirmed that the car will be able to run longer than the Tesla cars. Currently, the Tesla Model S has been announced to be able to run only 420km in a single charge.
The E-Tron Quattro Concept SUV will be equipped with three electric motors, with movable components at the front, side and rear to adjust aerodynamics to fit the clients’ needs. The driving range of the car will be extendable in this E-Tron Quattro Concept SUV, and the concept is set to introduce the electric sport-utility line of vehicles Audi hopes to start releasing by 2018.
Luxury carmakers round the globe are adjusting to the demand of the electric car market, which is rising and becoming more popular by the day. Companies like Honda and BMW are looking to compete with Tesla, who makes a lot of noise about their models but the actual reception is very different. Hopefully the rise of electric cars from other companies, particularly the E-Tron Quattro Concept, will bring diversity to the market.
